🎯 C1 Vocal Mechanics (Advanced Polish)

1. Content Word Stress & Pitch Range

Valeria's pronunciation is very good, but to reach a native TOEFL 28+ score, she must hit key vocabulary stress points clearly: *"al-lo-cat-ing"*, *"ran-dom-ized"*, *"lot-te-ry"*.

2. Flapping and Linking

Ensure smooth transitions: *"will_implement"* (vowel linking), *"reside_outside"* (glide link), and American flapping in *"lottery"* (/lɑːdər-i/).

1. Not until the late 19th century __________ as a distinct academic discipline.
(A) sociology emerged / (B) did sociology emerge / (C) sociology did emerge / (D) sociology emerging
🟢 Correct Answer: (B) did sociology emerge
Grammar Concept: Negative inversion. When a sentence starts with a limiting phrase like "Not until...", the auxiliary verb must precede the subject.
2. The dean proposed that the department chairperson __________ a new committee to investigate student complaints.
(A) appoints / (B) appoint / (C) appointing / (D) appointed
🟢 Correct Answer: (B) appoint
Grammar Concept: Subjunctive mood. Verbs of demanding, suggesting, or proposing (e.g., "propose that...") require the base form of the verb (appoint) regardless of the subject's grammatical person.
3. Modern computers can process data faster, store more files, and __________ than older models.
(A) network security is better / (B) provide better security network / (C) secure networks more efficiently / (D) security of network is higher
🟢 Correct Answer: (C) secure networks more efficiently
Grammar Concept: Parallel structure. The verbs must match: "process data...", "store files...", and "secure networks...".
📖 TOEFL Speaking Task 2: Campus Announcement

Reading Passage (45 Seconds)

Elimination of Free Student Parking

The University Board has decided to eliminate all free student parking lots starting in September. The space currently occupied by these parking lots will be converted into green spaces and outdoor study areas. The administration claims that this measure will significantly reduce the campus carbon footprint by encouraging students to utilize public transit. Furthermore, a transit pass will now be included in the tuition fee, making public transport free for all enrolled students.

Review the spoken logic below once audio simulation is complete.

Man: Hey, did you see the new parking announcement?
Woman: Yeah, and to be honest, I think it's a terrible idea.
Man: Really? Free transit passes sound pretty good though, don't they?
Woman: Sure, in theory. But in reality, the bus service around here is completely unreliable. If you study late at the library, buses run only once an hour after 8 PM. Also, if you live in the student housing complex on the east side of town, it takes at least 45 minutes by bus compared to a 10-minute drive. And biking in the winter here is basically impossible because of the heavy snow and ice. I don't see how replacing parking spots with grass helps students get to their classes on time.
